Heading Back to the Office? Here Are Two Tips to Keep Your MFP in Top Shape

Heading Back to the Office? Here Are Two Tips to Keep Your MFP in Top Shape

It’s now June, and with towns and cities now just opening up, we know a lot of people are getting into the swing of things and heading back to their offices. With that in mind, we have a couple of quick MFP maintenance tips for you that will help getting back to work easier.

INSPECT THE PAPER IN YOUR MFP’S PAPER TRAY

If you notice you’re having jamming problems with your machine, try inspecting all the paper in the paper tray. The paper in those drawers has been sitting there for weeks, maybe even months - that means that there’s a good chance that there may be moisture buildup in your paper, which can lead to jamming in your machine.

Replace the old paper in your MFP’s trays with a new ream of paper. This doesn’t mean that you need to through your old paper away - you can use it in other machines in your office. Typically, the high speeds that MFP’s run at can cause moist paper to jam, but machines like small desktop printers run at a slower rate, making high-speed jams a non-issue.

So, go ahead and load your MFP with a fresh ream of paper. This may alleviate any jamming issues that you may experience.

CALIBRATE YOUR MFP

If you happen to notice any quality issues with your MFP, it may be a good idea to calibrate your MFP. This is particularly true of color machines.

If you don’t know how to calibrate your machine, watch the video at the top of the page for a walkthrough showing how to calibrate a Canon MFP, a Konica Minolta MFP, and a Kyocera MFP. You can also contact us and we will send you instructions for your specific machine.

When you calibrate your machine, you bring it back to the high level of production it was performing at prior to you leaving the office.

Reach out and let us know if you’re having any issues or if you have any questions. Cobb is still here and happy to help.
